From May 5 to 7, a training of trainers on anti-discrimination was organized in Skopje. The participants were eight representatives of the civil society organizations and one representative of a state institution, working in the field of human rights and anti-discrimination. “The training was excellent. I also attended the basic training on anti-discrimination. The trainers have extensive experience and have already delivered numerous training sessions on this topic throughout Europe. The training is especially useful in the context of adopting the Anti-Discrimination Law and the role of civil society organizations. The participants today will have to become trainers in the future and deliver this training to the activists of the civil society organizations working in the field of anti-discrimination,” said Vlado Ančevski from HOPS – Options for Healthy Life. Mirdita Saliu from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy was very satisfied with the training. “We learned a lot and the trainers were very knowledgeable in this area. They gave us good directions of what a good trainer is. This type of training will be useful in the future for developing programs and for the Anti-Discrimination Law”, Saliu said. The participants also had an opportunity to hear and discuss about the direct and indirect discrimination, victimization, harassment, disability related discrimination, positive action and the duties of the public. As future trainers, the participants also learned about how to use different methods: mind map, brainstorming, work in small groups, raising the awareness, etc. The training was delivered by Isabelle Chopin, Deputy Director of the Migration Policy Group from Brussels and Lilla Farkas, human rights attorney and president of the Hungarian Equal Treatment Advisory Board.
