The Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (hereinafter: MCIC) is a civil society organization which stands for changes and solution to societal challenges, for benefits to marginalized groups and groups in aggravated societal position.
MCIC’ mission is to lead (and facilitate) changes for solution to the societal challenges, by means of innovations and establishment and mainstreaming of alternative models.

MCIC was established with joint efforts of several civic initiatives and the Dutch Inter-Church Aid. On December 14th 1993 the founding assembly of MCIC took place.

MCIC’ vision is peace, harmony and prosperity of the people in Macedonia, the Balkans and beyond. The MCIC' goals are:
- Social cohesion and poverty reduction;
- Sustainable local and rural development;
- Just and democratic society, based on the principles of good governance;
- Enrooted and dynamic civil society which influences public policies;
- Accepted cultural variety, interdependence and dialogue;
- Supported process of European integration, by means of strengthened regional cooperation;
- MCIC - independent and organization with credibility, capable of strong and effective partnerships and alliances, based on equality, on national, regional and international level; and
- MCIC - attractive and innovative organization which learns, with local roots and global perspective.

The first initiators and founders of MCIC are: Mirko Spiroski, Ivan Tulevski, Natasa Gaber, Teuta Krasnica-Cuckova, Savka Todorovska and Saso Klekovski.
Additional founders were: Dragi Kostadinovski, Zejnula Fazliu, Mihail Cekov, Zoran Kostov, Muhamed Toci, Nurije Kadriu, Aneta Andova, Arifi Seljam, Abdurauf Prusi, Bexihudin Shehapi, Andon Markovski, Vite Isjanovski, Biljana Stevanoska, Svetko Stefanovski, Jordanka Kusitasevska, Nadezda Hristova-Gerasimovska, Meto Jovanovski, Mitko Krzovski, Saso Strezoski.
The partnerships are one of the values which are incorporated in MCIC’ work. Partnership foresees cooperation among the included parties, which agree to share the rights and responsibilities for the purpose of attainment of a certain goal. MCIC is aware that the fulfillment of the vision and mission requires building strong partnership relations with the key actors. MCIC strives for partnerships based on trust and mutual interest.
MCIC, to date, has cooperated with several organizations, on joint programmes and projects, for supporting stances and joint advocacy on certain issues.
The MCIC’ budget in 2007 amounted to 97 million denars (approximately (1.5 million EUR).

Approximately 64% of MCIC revenues are provided from donations and grants whereas 24% come from own revenues. In 2007, most funding was provided by EED, Germany (16 million denars), approximately 13 million denars from DCA/Danida, Danemark, and approximately 11 million denars from European Agency for Reconstruction.

Approximately 58% from the expenditure in 2007 was used for activities within the programmes in the Civil Society Department. Next larger programmes are: Water supply and sanitation of communities, Macedonia without discrimination, Inter-Religious cooperation in Macedonia.

Presently, in MCIC, as of October 2008, there are 28 employees.
With the changes to the MCIC' statute, dating from October 2008, Board of Directors was established, as a body for everyday management of MCIC. It is comprised of two members: Saso Klekovski, First Executive Director (first time elected in 1994 for Executive Director of MCIC, and reelected in 1999 and 2003) and Aleksandar Krzalovski, Executive Director.

No, it does not. MCIC realizes activities outside Macedonia, mostly in the Balkan region. Presently, the programme Balkan Civil Society Development Network is being implemented in Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo.

The highest body is the MCIC’ Council, which convenes once or twice a year. The council consists of 24 members. Another management body is the Governing Board, which consists of 9 members and it convenes once a month, on average.
