Increased public oversight over the work of the Macedonian State Commission for Prevention of Corruption |
According to the Law on prevention of corruption SCPC is a specialized independent anticorruption institution. Among others, its competences are related to the policy-making, monitoring and oversight, and cooperation with other state bodies regarding the suppression of corruption. Although the results from different public opinion seem to suggest that citizens recognize the SCPC as the main state anticorruption institution, its role is little understood and public trust in the SCPC has declined. If its work in the past had been effective, one would expect that more cases had been opened on their initiative. Thus, the citizens need to be well-informed if and how SCPC implements its legal responsibilities, and its transparency and accountability in the frame of national anticorruption efforts. Project purpose: To contribute to increased transparency, accountability and public awareness of the effects of the work of the State Commission for prevention of Corruption (SCPC). The main project goal is to monitor if and how SCPC implements its legal responsibilities, and its transparency and accountability in the frame of national anticorruption efforts. Project outputs:
