The Balkan Civic Society Development Network (BCSDN) is a network of 14 civil society organizations from 10 Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia).

The overall goal of the network is strengthening the efforts for coordination, cooperation and capacity building of the member organizations and other partners in the Southeastern Europe. MCIC governs the program and chairs the Secretariat of the network.

The purpose of the program was to increase the individual and organizational capacities of the relevant NGOs from the Balkans and their cooperation.

The target group was comprised of the members of the BCSDN (ACSF, DA, MCIC, PF, WAD, CensorshipPlus, EOS, EHO, AID-Rom, OAR, CRNVO, CNVOS KCSF, VESTA) and other relevant civil society organizations and the public.

The main activities were coordination, capacity building and exchange of information in two areas of common interest: EU advocacy and fund raising. Activities in specific areas such as decentralization and ecumenical practices were partly implemented. The activities of common interest were led and realized by MCIC (as Secretariat), while the specific topics were realized through working groups.

The program evaluation read: “the network significantly contributed for cross-border cooperation and is well positioned for development of further cooperation among the members in future”.
