Renovation of Elementary School in v. Dolno Kolicani |
During 2007, MCIC realized cooperation with Sokotab Frana Sa from Switzerland which resulted in successfully implemented projects for renovation of the sanitary sewer in two elementary schools (in v. Dolno Kolicani and v. Dobrusevo). In 2008, Sokotab renewed its financial support for additional renovation of the same schools. The village Dolno Kolicani is located in hilly region on the south part of the valley of Skopje, on the territory of the municipality of Studenicani. 1,510 inhabitants in 340 households have been registered in the village. The school has been built in 1934 whereas in 1972 the same has been additionally built and partially renovated. In the course of 2007 a project for construction of sanitary sewerage was realized. Due to financial limitations, only the part intended for the pupils was built. In 2008, additional funds were provided for construction of additional sanitary sewerage for the school staff. The overall goal of the project was improved hygienic and hygienic/sanitary conditions for the staff in the elementary schools. The expected result from the project was finalized building of a new sanitary sewer (part for the staff) in the ES Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The target group of the project was pupils and employees from the elementary school. Direct beneficiaries were 21 members of the school’s staff. The target area of the project was rural, i.e. the project was implemented in the v. Dolno Kolicani, in the municipality of Studenicani (region of Skopje). The result was achieved through the following activities: Audit of technical documentation (only for the part which was built during the year); Control i.e. audit of the calculation from the tender documentation from the previous year (the tender was conducted for the entire object); Production of the entire documentation for support and financing of the project; Selection of expert review; Coordination and cooperation with all included actors; Monitoring and review; Reporting (interim and final) and evaluation. The additional construction of the sanitary sewer was realized in accordance with the foreseen tempo, without any significant problems and difficulties. During the construction, the school suggested expanding the construction with additional hall in order to enable improved sound and heat insulation. The request was accepted from the donor Sokotab who approved additional funds. For the realization of the supplemental activities, additional time was required. The works, financed by MCIC, were completely finalized as of November 10th 2008, whereas the technical reception of the additionally constructed sanitary sewer was performed on November 14th 2008, before the representatives of the ES, municipality, local neighborhood, MCIC, the contractor and review body. At the end of November, the representatives from the top management of Sokomak Bitola, visited and reviewed the achieved results, on the basis of which they expressed their pleasure from the approach and quality of the realization of the project. The time period of project implementation was June 1st – November 30th 2008. An assumption which influences and contributes towards realization of the overall goal is: the school staff uses appropriate hygienic means and has improved hygienic habits for utilization of the new sanitary sewer. An assumption on the level of results is that the school will maintain the sanitary sewer and will timely provide the required hygienic means (toilet paper, soap, liquid and cleaning kit, etc.). The cooperation with Sokomak and Sokotab was excellent and provides an opportunity for further enlargement. MCIC was responsible for the implementation of the project and the decision making, The activity was undertaken by a team of MCIC employees, together with the representatives from the elementary school, as well as required external associates (review body, contractor, experts and etc.). The information on the project was submitted to the public through the information editions of MCIC and the school. During the project implementation MCIC performed monitoring and review of the project activities. For the purpose of control of the building a professional civil engineering review was engaged in order to monitor the construction of the object, i.e. provided appropriate technical control of the reception. The reporting to the donor was interim and final, after the completion of all foreseen activities. The direct costs of the project amount to 1.246.775,50 MKD and all funds are donation from Sokotab Frana Sa from Switzerland (www.socotab.com).
